Following the enormous success of the inaugural LinkUp event in 2016, LinkUp 2017 was held in November. The event, presented in partnership with the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce, BDC, Community Futures, and Kamloops Innovation was designed as a one-day, one-stop business resource summit.
As we interact with Kamloops businesses, we often hear the message that business owners don’t know what‘s available to them in terms of business support, services and resources. LinkUp addresses this with a multi-faceted approach. The cornerstone of the event is a full day of presentations from service providers like the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce, Open Door Group, Kamloops Innovation, Thompson Rivers University, Business Development Bank of Canada, Community Futures Thompson Country, Futurpreneur, Women’s Enterprise Centre, Export Development Canada, Ministry of International Trade, Ministry of Jobs, Tourism, Innovation and Skills Training, Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, NRC - Industrial Research Assistance Program, MITACS, NSERC – Engage, All Nations Trust Development Corp. The keynote address from Melissa Higgs of HCMA Architecture & Design drew rave reviews.
A key addition to the event this year was the use of interactive software, so business owners at the event could ask questions immediately as they came to mind, creating robust discussion on a wide variety of topics. A tradeshow venue offered the opportunity for businesses to network and explore what other services may also be available to them.
