Kamloops – A Vital Transportation Hub

Kamloops is a vital transportation hub in Western Canada providing a diverse range of logistics solutions with direct links to the rest of Canada, United States, Europe and the Pacific Rim by road, rail, and air. Railways


Both the Canadian National Railway (CNR) and Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) service Kamloops as well as VIA Rail, a passenger service operating trains across Canada over a network spanning the country from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and from the Great Lakes to Hudson Bay. VIA Rail makes regular stops in Kamloops as part of its train travel packages across the Rockies and beyond. The city is also home to Rocky Mountaineer which brings over 90,000 guests to the city each year as an overnight stop on their awe-inspiring journey through the Fraser Canyon, Thompson River Valley, and the Rockies.

Airport


Kamloops Airport (YKA) is operated by Vantage Airport Group and is the main airport in the Thompson Nicola Regional District, providing air service throughout North America with connections to virtually every part of the world. The airport handles both passenger transport and air cargo. There is a solid industrial base, including aircraft sales, parts and maintenance, nearby at Fulton Field. Charter operations, forest service protection branch, air traffic control, ground transportation and storage hangars all operate as airport tenants. Aircraft fuelling, Customs and Border Services are available.

Bus


As the 10th busiest Greyhound bus station in Canada, Greyhound bus lines offer a wide variety of schedules and destinations into and out of Kamloops. Charter bus lines are also a good option because they are both cost-effective and efficient. It’s easy to find a chartered bus that is running through Kamloops on a regular basis from major destinations. BC Transit operates the Kamloops Transit System within Kamloops offering service to virtually every corner of the city with handyDART services for persons with disabilities who are unable to use conventional transit without assistance.

Taxi Service


Kamloops has two major taxi companies with wheelchair-accessible and group taxis are available. Additionally, the city has a number of airport shuttles, including limousines, available for hire.
